The Ouray Hot Springs Pool is proud to presents the second Mountain Air Music Series, a free outdoor concert series held in Fellin Park in beautiful Ouray, Colorado. Each Thursday in the month of June from 6–9 pm, you will be treated to incredible live music along with great food, non-alcoholic beverages, and beer, wine and spirits for purchase. Local non-profit organizations will benefit from beverage and food sales during the concerts. Each week we feature a new regional micro-brew and guest pour-ers from our non-profit community, so be sure to come out to support your favorite brew & crew, too. The concerts are multi-faceted family-friendly affairs, with great kids’ entertainment to go along with the music, so be sure to bring the whole family.

All four Ouray concerts will be broadcast live on KVNF Community Radio 90.9 FM and will be streaming live on the web at kvnf.org. After the show, join the opening bands for a free intimate musical set at O’Brien’s Pub & Grill. Music begins at 9 pm.

Taste of Ouray, June 5th

What better way to experience the true flavor of Ouray than with the annual Taste of Ouray culinary festival? Join us on June 5th at the Ouray Community Center for an evening with tantalizing and delicious samplings of local cuisine, brews and wine, demonstrations and competitions. Local chefs and caterers are already securing their places and planning their tasting menus. Attendees exchange tasting tickets for sweet and savory samples and vote for their favorites.

Come vote for your favorite “My Favorite thing about Ouray” Cupcake War. The cupcakes will be on display during the event; voting closes at 7:30 PM, and prizes will be awarded at 7:45 PM.

Taste of Ouray is expanding the popular cooking challenge. This year’s competition will be open to eight local chefs who will choose a “mystery” ingredient provided by the Ouray Chamber Resort Association. Ouray’s own celebrity chef’s will create and present creations. Spots may still be open if you are interested in participating. Please contact Heidi Pankow at (970)325-4746

Bring your future chef’s as there will be cooking activities for children through out the event.

Admission is free, and food and beverage tasting tickets will be sold for $1 each.

Schedule of events:

2:00 – 4:00 – Contestants deliver cupcakes to the Ouray Community Center

4:30 – Doors open for Taste of Ouray

6:00 – 7:00 – Cooking competition

7:00 – 7:30 – Competition judging

7:45 – Awards for vendors, cupcake and cooking competitions

Beaumont Grill – YUMMY

Had a lovely evening with friends at the unveiling of the Beaumont Grill’s new menu. Chad & Jennifer, along with Chef Curtis invited some of us locals to check out their new menu. SOOOOO GOOOD!!! They will be serving lunch and dinner from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM….YEP – 10PM through the summer. The menu includes vegetarian and gluten free options as well. And while you’re there – be sure to check out Buckskin Booksellers. Great little bookstore!!

Bad phone and other news

In trying to be efficient and productive, I have accidentally erased my phone messages from the last couple of days while I have been at the Moab Photo Symposium. Which makes me not very efficient or productive!! Please, if you have left me a message, or know someone who has, please call and leave me another. I will be returning from the symposium on Monday and will return calls then. My sincerest apologies for the inconvenience this has caused!!!

I was able to get the parking lot resurfaced/ resealed yesterday. One of the beauties of living in Ouray is that folks always keep an eye out for you and let you know how things are going; which is very much appreciated! Pictures to follow soon!!

Fun in April in OURAY!!!

Last week I had the great pleasure of having lunch with Malcolm Daly. Malcolm and I have breen giving each a hard time and lotta love over the years during the Ouray Ice Fest. Got to have lunch at Maggie’s kitchen which I am very excited to say is open for the season….love those Burgers! Plus Ourayle House is rumored to be moving in next door. Awesome addition and partnership!!

I was so taken with my burger that I forgot to snap a photo to share the yumminess but did remember to snap some of the super cute summer items that Trish has brought in at Ouray Mountain Sports. Plus I got a little love from Aspen too.

This foundation provides cultural and education opportunities for the youth in our county. Plus a good race is simply a good race. The Ouray Elks Lodge #492 will have another Prime Rib dinner on March 23rd Dinner is at 6:00 pm and is only $20.00 for prime rib, baked potato and salad. All prepared by local favorite chef Rein Hein. There will be live entertainment, a silent auction and open KARAOKE! Procedes from the auction will benefit the charity fund. 6th Annual Wine and Whiskers Weekend Event

A local favorite and a ton of fun!! The annual Wine & Whiskers event benefits Second Chance Humane Society here in Ouray County. Second Chance has done amazing work helping to care, place and reunite pets in Ouray, San Miguel and even Montrose counties. March 14 & 16

This popular event has outgrown its one night Status and now offers two events. All events will take place the Ouray County 4H Event Center in Ridgway’

Thursday, March 14th Opening Night Mixer 6-8pm geared toward those who mostly just want to see the fashion show. Although there will be a small silent auction prior to the show the focus will be on the roof-raising show. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.

Saturday March 16th (5:30 pm – midnight) will remain the Gala Event: fun packed evening including the delectable chef samplers, well stocked silent auction, lively live auction, the famous fashion show, concluding with a dance party. Tickets are $40 in advance and $45 at the door.

What a difference a day makes!!

For the past week or so, I’ve been in gray, overcast, snowy weather. The San Juans are still behind in snowfall this year so I am grateful for every flake.

Took this shot last night while locking up for the evening…my new definition of snow globe.

But when the clouds move out and give way to mornings like this….it is simply breathtaking. What do you think? Am I lucky or what??
