To see what happens in the Uncompahgre Gorge over the winter months, there are few words to describe it. Giant pillars of ice stretching down the side of the canyon, gravity creating beautiful forms that beg to be climbed, conquered. It is truly a site to see.

Happening every January, I am simply amazed at the arrival of the Ouray Ice Festival. I am so proud to say that I had the honor to work side by side with this group of people. It takes a dedicated group to make this happen, not just the Festival but throughout the climbing season. From those that are out at all hours ensuring the water is flowing and that the ice is safe to those that work so diligently to keep the gorge an asset for all of us to enjoy.
