Also known as the hot springs park, Fellin Park is situated next to the Ouray Hot Springs Pool. You will find plenty of recreation activities for adults and children alike, as well as many picnic tables to whet your appetite.
There is a quarter-mile running path, basketball courts, ballfield, and track to keep you busy. Children will enjoy the skate park and the playground (please keep in mind that the playground might be closed due to Covid-19 restrictions).
It is a quiet space in the middle of the town that’s perfect for a respite and to catch up over sandwiches, drinks, and cakes. The gazebo and picnic area are also available to groups wishing to rent an area for picnics, family gatherings, and weddings. A nominal fee is charged for maintenance and clean up.
Lovers of waterfalls have a second option to choose from. Besides Box Canyon Falls Park, Cascade Falls is the perfect destination if you are looking for the beauty and astonishing sounds of a waterfall. Cascade Falls is the last in a series of seven waterfalls that carries snowmelt off the mountains and down one of two flumes through Ouray. Located at the East end of Eighth Avenue, this park also includes a trail for an easy hike.
If everyone in your group enjoys sitting on the grass, there are many grassy areas where you can lay down a blanket or tablecloth and bring out the picnic basket. Situated north of the Ouray Hot Springs Pool, the Rotary Park also includes a playground for children and a climbing wall for people to experiment with rock climbing.
Woman’s Club Mini-Park
This small park includes picnic tables, a small grassy play area, and playground equipment sized for toddlers and young children. Established and maintained by the Woman’s Club of Ouray County, it is located in a peaceful neighborhood at the intersection of 4th Avenue and 5th Street.
Box Canyon Falls Park
Roaring water, chirping birds, a deep canyon, and a suspension bridge: Box Canyon Falls Park has it all but is only open through October.
Situated at the West end of Third Avenue, this fee park offers a dramatic scene that can be enjoyed both from above and below the falls. Visitors can walk along a trail that ends at a spectacular 85-foot waterfall, the culmination of Canyon Creek narrowing. Prepare to be astonished by the volume of water dropping, silencing everything around!
