Long Weekend Adventures
A long weekend break in Ouray is a great family experience. Start off by picking up a Scavenger Hunt list from the Ouray County Visitor Center and then head off to the famous historic district of the town to answer the questions and follow the clues. Completing the list secures you a worthy keepsake for your efforts when you return with the list to the visitor’s center.
Baby Bathtubs Trail
Two of the main attractions in the Ouray area are the multitude of hiking trails and natural water features. As the name suggests, the Baby Bathtubs Trail is a ‘2-for-1’ outing offering both these features that kids and their parents can enjoy together. This easy hiking trail starts at Amphitheater Campground Road and follows a gentle stream, with a scattering of irresistible waterfalls to play and splash in.
There are several other waterfalls in the Ouray region worth visiting on a long weekend, Box Canyon Waterfalls and Cascade Falls being two of the most popular vacation destinations. At Box Canyon, the spectacular waterfalls cascade through the walls of the canyon, and the Cascade Falls are breath-taking in their long, rocky descent to the waters below. Other popular waterfalls in the area include Bear Creek Falls, Cornet Falls, and Ingram Falls.
Action Adventures Trail Rides
Action Adventures Trail Rides offers awesome horseback activities if you are in Ouray for a spring getaway. Various rides are available, ranging from 30-minute novice outings to overnight trails for more experienced riders. There is no better way to explore the wilderness of Ouray than from the exciting position offered by horse riding.

This time capsule is home to over 40 years’ worth of memorabilia of medicine on the western frontier, including the oldest prescription ever written in Colorado. Please note that tours need to be booked ahead of time.
