It’s that time of year again where our beautiful high passes start opening up! Keep up with all the openings by calling the Chamber or your local Jeep Tour companies. Below is the list of updates that we have to date:
Yankee Boy Basin – open to restrooms. Single lane through 6ft snow banks past the Atlas mill. Anticipate falling rock and water runoff through the canyon and snow banks in the higher region.
Red Mountain Town Loop
Corkscrew Gulch – in progress, 60% complete
Engineer Pass – underway (Hinsdale & Ouray County crews currently clearing) 60 foot snow drifts and avalanche paths on the Lake City side.
Cinnamon Pass – CINNAMON PASS is now open. CAUTION!!! This is not a typical spring atmosphere on this pass, you WILL encounter very high and deep snow drifts, lots of runoff from streams and erosion of the road. The County Crews HIGHLY ADVISE HAVING GOOD TIRES and HIGH CLEARANCE VEHICLES if you plan to attempt going over Cinnamon Pass this weekend.
Last Dollar Road
Ophir Pass – open to summit on the Silverton/Hwy 550 side
